What have you been doing to live an healthy life?

Can you boldly say you’ve been living quite a healthy life for the past 2-3yrs?

We all need to know that healthy living involves more than physical health, it also includes mental and emotional health. Other components of mental health include; physical, mental, environmental hygiene and healthy eating which has to do with diet and nutrition.

How can you maintain your physical and mental health?

Good Hygiene

There is a popular saying that “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”. Good hygiene is very important in our daily life to maintain our physical health.

Eating Good Food

All humans have to eat food for the growth and maintenance of a healthy body, but we all need to take note that each one of us has different nutrition requirements as infants, children (kids), teenagers, young adults, adults, and seniors. For example, infants may require feeding every 4 hours until they gradually age and begin to take in more solid foods. Eventually, they develop into the more normal pattern of eating three times per day as young kids.

Ideas on how to live a healthy life.

1. Eat three healthy meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner); it is important to remember that dinner does not have to be the largest meal. The bulk of food consumption should consist of healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk products. Incorporate lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts into a healthy diet.‌

2. Choose foods that are low in saturated fats, cholesterol and salt.‌ Too much fat in the body leads to unnecessary body weight gain, so try to avoid some fatty food also too much intake of salt may result in case of hypertension in adults.

3. Control portion sizes; eat the smallest portion that can satisfy hunger and then stop eating!.‌ A lot of us need to caution ourselves from eating snacks all the time, healthy snacks are OK in moderation and should consist of items like fruit, whole grains, or nuts to satisfy hunger and not cause excessive weight gain.‌

4.Avoid sugar-enhanced drinks (such as Coke, and Fanta..)because of the excessive calories; diet drinks may not be a good choice as they make some people hungrier and increase food consumption.‌

5. Avoid eating a large meal before sleeping to decrease gastroesophageal reflux and weight gain.‌ I use to wonder how people would eat late and sleep few mins after without letting the food to digest and then we complain about our developing big tommy. The most appropriate time to eat dinner is 7pm.

6. Drink 2-3 litres of water per day for longevity.‌

Water gives a variety of health benefits to the body. Increased energy, gives a better mood, and clearer thinking are the most essential benefits. Furthermore, consuming adequate water might assist you in looking your best. Because the skin is the body’s largest organ, it will appear and feel healthier if it is properly moisturized.

7. Avoid heavy meals, especially on hot days.‌

If you choose to eat uncooked foods like fruits or vegetables, they should be thoroughly washed with water right before eating.‌

8. Avoid eating raw or undercooked meats of any type. Wash your hands after touching a surface area, before a meal and after. People on shifts, college students etc should try to adhere to a breakfast, lunch, and dinner routine with minimal snacking.

9. People trying to lose weight (body fat) should avoid all fatty and sugary foods and eat mainly vegetables, fruits, and nuts and markedly reduce/her intake of meat and dairy products. Seek medical advice early if you cannot control your weight, or food intake, or if you have diabetes and cannot control your blood glucose levels.

10. Exercise for physical and mental health. Physical activity and exercise are major contributors to a healthy lifestyle. Unhealthy living may manifest itself in obesity, weakness, lack of strength, and overall poor health that may foster disease development.

It’s high time you start becoming intentional about your health. Your health matters!

I hope this as being helpful. Thanks for reading so far..
